WHAT WE DO

Three main pillars

Grassroots Growth

Invest in underserved and minority communities to provide greater access and encourage involvement in the sport. Increase minority representation at the youth level to create more inclusive environments.

Amateur Support

Supply consistent resources at the amateur level, specifically within HBCUs, to make them viable options towards pursuing a professional career.

Professional Opportunities

Increase minority representation at the technical staff and executive level at clubs throughout the USL Championship and League One. Grow the qualified minority coaching pool by providing coaching education scholarships, internship opportunities, career guidance and other professional resources.

Initiatives

Expanding access to soccer in underserved communities by providing safe spaces for the youth to play and learn. Not only do these pitches provide safe places to play in communities that are historically divested from, but they also introduce new people to the game of soccer. We are currently working with US Soccer Foundation & Musco lighting to identify possible sites within USL markets.

The two biggest barriers of entry to soccer are cost and travel. We plan to eliminate both by bringing free clinics to areas of need in every USL market. The free soccer clinics will be located in underserved communities to promote access to the game. We partner with local community partners and youth clubs to provide free access, equipment, food, and coaching. Our first free soccer clinic was hosted in Sacramento following the end of the 2022 season.

Supporting various institutions each year to stabilize their soccer programs by providing aid to funding, offering scholarships, supplying equipment, subsidizing travel. Our goal is to increase awareness of the sport of soccer in the black community and increase participation so players know there is an accessible pathway from youth to college in HBCU environments

Investing in the coaching pool by providing financial aid to minority players who are pursuing coaching education and licenses. One of the biggest barriers to acquiring coaching licenses is cost. We want to increase the number of qualified black coaches in the coaching pool. The more qualified minority coaches we have, the more candidates we can enter into professional, collegiate, and youth coaching roles. This creates more diverse and equitable environments. One of our members, Ryan James, was the first recipient of a coaching license education scholarship.

There are plenty of USL players who are doing great things in their communities! Our goal is to assist as many player run initiatives as possible. We want to be able to support their efforts that align with our mission as an organization. Invest in our fellow players allow them to utilize their platforms to grow the game of soccer
