Akeem Ward

Akeem Ward is in his 5th season as a professional soccer player. In 2019 he was drafted by his hometown club DC United. Soon after he spent time at Loudoun United, Birmingham Legion, North Carolina FC, Oakland Roots, Rio Grande Valley, and now is currently playing for Memphis 901FC. Akeem was born in Brooklyn, New York but was raised in Virginia before attending Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska. While at Creighton Akeem received a Bachelors in Marketing while also helping the team win its first ever regular season in the Big East. 

Through Akeem’s past experiences and involvement with the UBP he hopes to be able to help shape the direction of football for young men and women that look like him. He acknowledges the amount of time, work, and effort it will take to achieve this but wants to be apart of the foundation that is needed to progress change. He believes this can be accomplished through a core value he has adopted which are the three S’ of self-awareness. They are self-honesty, self-accountability, and self-initiative. With these core values in mind in everything Akeem does, he hopes to be a good example for young black kids who want to play soccer at the professional level. 

Akeem currently serves as the Treasurer on the Executive Board.
